Recently in Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, popularly known as UNIZIK. The popular fees amount paid has been increased more than some students financial energy. The acceptance fee which used to be thirty thousand naira has been increased to seventy seven thousand while the school fees has been increased from twenty thousand, six hundred naira has been increased to thirty thousand six hundred naira. The protest against this new policy has been on the line.
The new policy was introduced after a new Vice Chancellor who happened to be a pastor was appointed, Professor Okechukwu Charles Esimone popularly called 'ESIMONEY'. Several allegations has been channeled towards this new policy. Some say it's because of the little amount paid by few student into the churches purses and the inability of people to pay their tithes as well as church offerings. Another sects said it was God's work... Using the popular saying that no man can cheat God. He's not a cheap God.
The policy is yet to be amended and the uproar of students increase daily. Some go as far as doubting if the school is a federal or private university.
